Honey Homes is reimagining homeownership through a membership model that provides members with dedicated handyman support year-round. The company is expanding into larger home projects—exterior repaints, deck and fence rebuilds, siding repair, bathroom updates, and built-ins—and needs a Project Scoping Specialist to own the front half of every project: the scoping consultation, estimate development, and member follow-up through acceptance.
In this role, you will run 15-minute virtual scoping consultations with homeowners, reviewing their photos, prior notes, and intake information before each call to ensure you never ask them to repeat themselves. During the call, you'll capture the scope and the member's intent—what they actually want, why, their timeline, and what's driving their decision. You'll narrow to a single scope, define what's in and out, and measure quantities that drive price.
You'll turn each call into a complete estimate within 24 hours: written scope, quantities, labor hours, crew and days, materials, and price using the company's pricing framework. Our field lead reviews every estimate for scope and quality before it goes to the member; you'll turn revisions around the same day. The goal is an estimate in the member's hands within a day of their call, approved on the first pass.
You'll decide quickly whether a project should be quoted remotely, routed to an in-person visit, referred to a specialist, or declined as not a fit. When a visit is needed, you'll coordinate with member success to schedule it within 24 hours. You own the scoping stages of the project pipeline in the CRM, ensuring every lead has a next step, an owner, and a date. No completed scoping call sits without an estimate for more than a business day.
You're the member's point of contact from the scoping call through a signed yes. You build their confidence in the project, walk them through the estimate and tradeoffs, and help them make decisions on materials, timing, and scope. When a member is on the fence, you run the follow-up directly, surface what's holding them back, and help them move forward—consultative, not high-pressure.
When an estimate is accepted, you hand it off with a complete job brief: scope, measurements, materials, member preferences, access notes, and photos. You'll use AI tools like Claude to structure call notes, draft scopes from transcripts, and turn recurring project types into templates. You're expected to actively experiment with new tools and continuously improve how work gets done. Every call you log feeds a scoping playbook; you'll spot recurring patterns, help create standard pricing and scoping templates, and push toward a world where routine jobs are quoted in minutes.
Success in your first year means running every virtual scoping consultation for the Large Projects team, delivering complete estimates within 24 hours with most approved on the first pass, making clear routing decisions within a day, keeping the pipeline clean, handing off accepted jobs with briefs complete enough that crews start without questions, and building the templates and AI-assisted workflows that let the team quote standard projects in minutes.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of hands-on residential construction, remodeling, handyman, or home-improvement experience (required). You must be able to look at photos and video walkthroughs and see the tasks, sequence, materials, and hidden surprises.
- Working knowledge of home maintenance and repair: how common projects are done, what they take, and what goes wrong.
- Experience producing written scopes or estimates with labor hours and materials, ideally including photo- or video-based estimating.
- Customer-forward style: you put homeowners at ease on camera, ask good questions, listen for what they want and why, and represent the company with warmth and credibility.
- Comfort owning the outcome, not just the estimate. You can build homeowner confidence, handle questions on process and price, and help undecided members reach a confident yes.
- Outstanding written communication. Your scopes leave nothing to interpretation and your notes let a crew start without a phone call.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to keep a dozen open projects straight while holding a 24-hour turnaround.
- Decisiveness in ambiguity: you can tell quickly which projects need a visit, a specialist, or a polite no, and explain why.
- High agency and bias toward ownership. You follow projects through to a decision and don't wait to be asked to fix what's slow.
- Comfort learning and using AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT, plus a CRM and estimating software.
- Having run your own trade or contracting business, or experience at a fast-growing, operationally complex company, is a strong plus.
