The company operates with startup agility while addressing national security challenges. As a Project Engineer, you will own schedule management and coordination across multiple concurrent aerospace and rocket motor development programs. Your core responsibility is building, maintaining, and communicating accurate Gantt charts in SmartSheet (or equivalent tools) to ensure critical lead times and delivery schedules are clearly understood by hardware, propellant, and test engineers. You will keep leadership and technical leads aligned on status, critical path, requirements flow, and risks. Key responsibilities include: - Develop and maintain detailed Gantt charts and schedules in SmartSheet for multiple small-to-medium complexity aerospace programs running in parallel - Translate statements of work, technical plans, and team inputs into work breakdown structures, task logic, durations, resource loading, and milestones - Link predecessors and successors to understand critical paths and identify schedule risks - Produce clear schedule reports, look-ahead views, and variance analysis for project leads, engineering managers, and program reviews - Coordinate with engineers, technicians, procurement, and test operations to keep task dependencies, lead times, and constraints current - Support baseline establishment, schedule health checks, and what-if analysis when scope or resources change - Maintain schedule version control and documentation consistent with company and customer requirements - Participate in project kickoffs, status meetings, and after-action reviews; flag schedule impacts early - Support extended hours and weekends as needed in a fast-paced R&D and production environment This role sits at the intersection of engineering, program management, and operations, requiring both technical understanding of aerospace hardware development and strong project controls discipline. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, project management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience - 3–7 years of project scheduling experience managing concurrent projects of small-to-medium complexity without losing fidelity - Demonstrated proficiency building and maintaining Gantt charts and logic-driven schedules; SmartSheet and Microsoft Project strongly preferred; Primavera P6 experience a plus - Strong understanding of work breakdown structures, critical path method, float, resource leveling, and baseline management - Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to explain schedule status and impacts to both technical and non-technical audiences - U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance - Valid driver's license - ITAR compliance: must be U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from U.S. Department of State PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience supporting rocket propulsion, energetics, or aerospace hardware programs (design–fabrication–test) - Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality systems and government contracting environments - PMP, CAPM, or scheduling-specific certification - Experience with Excel-based schedule analysis and simple dashboards; PowerBI experience a plus - Hands-on comfort working with engineering and shop-floor teams in R&D, test, and manufacturing settings
