Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The Product Support Engineering team maximizes operational availability of the Dive-XL fleet—Anduril's Extra Large Autonomous Undersea Vehicles—by bridging field operations and engineering design.
In this role, you will provide on-call engineering support to teams operating and maintaining fielded AUVs, including out-of-hours rotations. You'll assess severity, scope work, and conduct investigations when unexpected issues arise at sea, in maintenance facilities, or during operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Provide rotating on-call support to fielded AUV teams, including outside business hours
- Establish root cause from logs, telemetry, configuration, and maintenance history; bound issues to subsystems and define workarounds
- Lead root cause investigations to defensible conclusions (systemic vs. isolated, design vs. production vs. maintenance vs. operational)
- Chair Material Review Board dispositions and manage fleet-wide system limitations, including degraded-state operation decisions
- Convert fleet data into engineering recommendations and drive changes through design teams
- Build monitoring, alerting, and diagnostic tooling to surface problems proactively
- Author and distribute service bulletins; track incorporation across the fleet
- Create or approve operations, troubleshooting, incident response, and maintenance publications
- Govern as-maintained configuration and software bill of materials (SBOM)
- Reduce support demand through sparing strategy, reliability improvements, better diagnostics, and supportability requirements in new variants
You will need genuine depth in one engineering discipline (software, electrical, mechanical, systems) with enough breadth to triage across others, and sound judgment to make calls on limited data under time pressure.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of professional experience in software, electrical, mechanical, mechatronic, or systems engineering on complex systems
- Demonstrated ability to independently root cause difficult, ambiguous faults from limited or conflicting data
- Hands-on experience with real hardware in operational, field, integration/test, production, or maintenance environments
- Sound engineering judgment under time pressure, including assessing acceptability of degraded operation
- Strong coordination and communication skills; ability to own issues, manage stakeholders, drive to resolution, and explain technical findings to engineers and non-engineers
- Experience with configuration management, engineering change processes, and fleet-wide change incorporation
- Experience with robotic and/or autonomous systems in maritime environments (advantageous)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance
