Anduril Industries is seeking a Product Support Engineer to join the Dive-XL team, supporting the operational fleet of Extra Large Autonomous Undersea Vehicles (AUVs). This role sits at the intersection of field operations and engineering design, responsible for maximizing operational availability of the fleet.
You will provide on-call engineering support to teams operating and maintaining fielded AUVs on a rotating roster that extends outside business hours. Your responsibilities include:
- Responding to operational issues by assessing severity, scoping work, and conducting investigations using logs, telemetry, configuration data, and maintenance history
- Leading root cause analysis investigations to defensible conclusions, determining whether failures are systemic or isolated, and identifying whether they stem from design, production, maintenance, or operational factors
- Chairing Material Review Board dispositions and managing fleet-wide system limitations, including decisions on degraded-state operation
- Translating fleet data into engineering recommendations and requirements, driving those changes through design teams
- Building monitoring, alerting, and diagnostic tooling to surface problems before field reports, and creating runbooks and knowledge bases to accelerate response
- Authoring and distributing service bulletins, tracking incorporation across the fleet
- Creating or approving operations, troubleshooting, incident response, and maintenance publications
- Governing as-maintained configuration and software bill of materials (SBOM)
- Reducing support demand through sparing strategy, reliability improvements, supportability enhancements, and better diagnostics
You will need genuine depth in at least one engineering discipline (software, electrical, mechanical, mechatronic, or systems) with enough breadth to triage across others, and sound judgment to make calls on limited data under time pressure.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of professional experience in software, electrical, mechanical, mechatronic, or systems engineering on complex systems
- Demonstrated ability to independently root cause difficult, ambiguous faults from limited or conflicting data
- Hands-on experience with real hardware in operational, field, integration/test, production, or maintenance environments
- Sound engineering judgment under time pressure, including assessing acceptability of degraded operation
- Strong coordination and communication skills; ability to own issues, manage stakeholders, drive to resolution, and explain technical findings to engineers and non-engineers
- Experience with configuration management, engineering change processes, and fleet-wide change incorporation
- Experience with robotic and/or autonomous systems in maritime environments is advantageous
- Ability to obtain and maintain NV2 Security Clearance
