DataCamp is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join an AI-native team building learning systems for 17 million learners and 6,000+ companies. You will own product and platform projects end-to-end—from ideation through prototyping, measurement, and iteration—with significant autonomy to shape technical direction and drive impact.
In this role, you'll take large, ambiguous projects and deliver them with real ownership. You'll partner closely with Product, Design, and fellow engineers to ship high-quality work at scale. The team uses agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex) and LLMs as core parts of the development workflow, not as afterthoughts. You'll be expected to leverage these tools daily to prototype faster, raise code quality, and focus on the hard problems that matter most.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning product or platform projects end-to-end with autonomy to make them count
- Shaping technical direction and architecture of systems you work on
- Ensuring services remain scalable, reliable, and observable as they grow, including LLM-powered services
- Raising the bar for technical decisions and architecture across the organization
- Using data, metrics, and user feedback to inform what to build next
- Growing engineers around you through mentorship, technical leadership, and thoughtful code review
You'll work in a fast-paced, high-velocity environment where shipping quickly and iterating based on feedback is the norm. The role offers technical challenges every day, working with a creative international team on systems that operate at scale.
Requirements:
- 7+ years building software across the stack; experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and React is a strong plus
- Start-up or early-stage/small-company experience; ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-velocity environments
- Strong product mindset paired with pragmatism; ability to understand users, weigh data and feedback, and make sharp trade-offs
- AI-native approach: agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex) as your primary way of working, with 6+ months of daily, hands-on use; ability to write your own skills, wire up MCP servers, and demonstrate what you've built
- Expert knowledge of modern API design and microservices architecture
- Track record of taking large, ambiguous problems end-to-end independently, both greenfield 0→1 builds and improving complex existing systems
