Salary: USD 305,000 - 385,000 / annual
Anthropic is seeking a Product Designer to shape how millions of people experience Claude, the company's AI assistant. This role sits at the intersection of craft, research, and product intuition, working on the Claude Developer Platform—a product category with emerging conventions and rapidly evolving capabilities.
You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and AI researchers to define product vision, strategy, and roadmaps while shipping features end-to-end. Your responsibilities include understanding the technical architecture of products, defining primitives for new AI capabilities, and crafting beautiful, polished interfaces that build trust and showcase AI technology. You'll work in a fast-paced startup environment where shipping quickly and learning in the open is valued over perfection. The role requires comfort moving between design, code, and prototypes, and the ability to invent UI patterns native to AI interactions.
Design at Anthropic emphasizes craft—attention to detail, polish, and trustworthiness—while maintaining velocity. You'll stay close to emerging model capabilities, question fundamental UI assumptions, and find ways to care about pixels, copy, and edge cases while shipping rapidly. The team is small and works on products used by millions daily, with interactions that don't yet have established conventions.
Minimum qualifications:
- Experience designing and shipping complex workflows, enterprise/B2B SaaS, developer tools, or API products end-to-end
- Proven track record executing end-to-end on large, complex products (or a series of products) in ambiguous environments
- Portfolio demonstrating user-centered design thinking and polished UI craftsmanship
- Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma)
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code as a creative partner in your own design practice
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence without authority
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience prototyping with front-end code (HTML/CSS/JS)
- Passion for crafting scaled, highly impactful, safe, and beneficial AI technologies
