Verkada is seeking a Product Design Mechanical Engineer to join its Taipei office and contribute to the design and development of enterprise IoT hardware including cameras, access control systems, sensors, and related products. You will own all aspects of mechanical design from prototype through mass production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drive new products from proof of concept through mass production
- Generate mechanical solutions for enterprise hardware requirements (cameras, mounting, sealing, environmental resistance, thermals, tamper resistance)
- Collaborate with Electrical Engineering to integrate PCBAs, sensors, and electro-mechanical elements
- Partner with Industrial Design to prototype, test, and finalize product form and materials/finishes
- Work with mechanical vendors on design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA), manage quoting and parts kickoff
- Own tooling release, bring-up, and validation across diverse parts and processes
- Develop, manage, and execute mechanical reliability test plans and design-of-experiments (DoEs)
- Conduct failure analysis and root cause analysis; troubleshoot and validate quickly
- Collaborate with JDM and contract manufacturers through validation builds (EVT, DVT, PVT) into mass production
- Drive on-site factory troubleshooting, assembly line bring-up, and root cause analysis
- Design outdoor products meeting IP66/67 and IK08/10 standards

Requirements:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience designing and manufacturing enterprise or consumer electronic products
- Excellent written and verbal English and Mandarin communication skills
- Mastery of 3D CAD software
- Hands-on experience building and testing hardware
- Ability to frequently visit vendors throughout Taiwan and Southeast Asia
- Experience working with part vendors on DFM, tooling bring-up, and validation
- Passion for designing aesthetically pleasing, easy-to-use hardware
- Must be independently authorized to work in Taiwan (no visa sponsorship available)
