Salary: USD 160,000 - 210,000 / annual
Oklo is developing fast fission power plants to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy at scale, along with advanced fuel recycling technologies and a domestic supply chain for critical radioisotopes. The company was the first to receive a site use permit from the U.S. Department of Energy for a commercial advanced fission plant and submitted the first custom combined license application for an advanced reactor to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
The Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Engineer will conduct probabilistic risk analyses to support fast reactor design development, licensing, deployment, and operation. This role bridges engineering and risk analysis, working cross-functionally to identify hazards, model event sequences, and translate risk insights back into design improvements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing probabilistic risk analysis models of fast reactor designs
- Conducting quantitative risk analyses including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), event tree and fault tree development, and probability quantification
- Evaluating event sequence consequences and external hazards using PRA techniques
- Collaborating with engineering design teams to incorporate risk insights and improve system reliability
- Supporting regulatory licensing activities through technical reports, analyses, and documentation
The role is based in Santa Clara, CA with a hybrid arrangement. Remote employees must travel to headquarters twice per quarter for team meetings, off-sites, and company events. The first two weeks of onboarding are required in-person at Santa Clara headquarters.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
- At least 5 years of work experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar discipline
- Familiarity with PRA techniques
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in collaborative team environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bonus qualifications:
- Advanced training, education, or experience in PRA
- Experience delivering products for regulatory review (DOE authorization, NRC licensing under 10 CFR Parts 50 or 52)
- Experience with PRA software (CAFTA, SAPHIRE, ADAPT, RAVEN, etc.)
- Experience with fast reactor design and analysis
- Experience with hazard analysis (FMEAs, HAZOPS, What-if Analysis)
- Experience with transient or source term analysis
- Experience with human reliability analysis
- Experience in operations, maintenance, or engineering support of operating nuclear power plants
