Wayve is building embodied AI for autonomous vehicles and general-purpose robots. You'll join the Multi-Embodiment Generalist Agent (MEGA) team within Wayve Labs as a founding member, working on foundation models for robots beyond self-driving vehicles—including mobile manipulators, dual-arm platforms, and humanoids.
Your day-to-day work will involve hands-on debugging across hardware, software, and ML systems. You'll move fluidly between research exploration and pragmatic engineering execution, with strong judgment around experiment design, data quality, and model evaluation. You'll communicate across research, engineering, and product teams while owning 0→1 problems in a fast-moving research environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building, integrating, and maintaining robot hardware platforms for research and experimentation
- Developing and maintaining robot software in C++ and Python, including control, planning, ROS/ROS2-based systems, and deployment infrastructure
- Creating infrastructure for policy deployment, data collection, evaluation, and the robotics data flywheel
- Running real-world robot experiments and defining data collection pilots that inform model development
- Collaborating with research teams on robot policy development, model evaluation, and data strategy
- Debugging and troubleshooting robotic software, hardware, and policy failures
- Building robust deployment, regression, and validation tests for robot systems
- Helping shape technical direction across robotics, ML, hardware, and experimentation
Wayve operates a hybrid model across hubs in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg, combining in-person collaboration with remote flexibility. The company offers competitive salaries, meaningful equity, relocation support, learning budgets, and comprehensive benefits.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in robot manipulation and working with robot hardware
- Experience leading robotics efforts
- Strong programming in C++ and/or Python
- Experience with robot software systems (control, planning, ROS, ROS2)
- Machine Learning experience welcome, particularly training and deploying learned robot policies
- Track record of high-quality research or engineering work in robotics or embodied AI
- Publications in top-tier conferences (ICRA, CoRL, IROS) highly valued
- PhD preferred; Master's degree with equivalent experience also acceptable
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience
Note: The posting encourages applications even if you don't meet every requirement if you're passionate about autonomy and eager to learn.
