Matillion is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for the Billing and Hub teams at their Hyderabad office. The role combines hands-on engineering with strategic technical direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership for the Billing and Hub teams, setting direction and guiding engineers day-to-day
- Own the end-to-end design of the billing service, including integrations with finance and CRM systems, subscriptions, entitlements, and consumption tracking
- Represent India in architecture reviews and senior technical forums, influencing decisions and managing dependencies across teams
- Partner with Product, GTM, and Finance stakeholders to evolve billing and consumption models as pricing changes
- Work hands-on with engineers using AI and agentic tools to build, debug, and challenge solutions; mentor colleagues in these practices

Requirements:
- Extensive backend experience in Java and Spring Boot with a strong product company background
- Proven system design and architecture skills, with experience leading technical direction at Principal level
- Experience with billing, subscription, or entitlement systems
- Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, and permissions
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Practical experience using AI tools in development work or building AI-enabled solutions; curiosity about agentic ways of working
