Salary: USD 110,700 - 166,100 / annual
Precision for Medicine seeks a Principal Scientist, Flow Cytometry to lead scientific strategy and execution in translational medicine research, with primary focus on Immuno-Oncology and autoimmune/inflammatory applications.
You will work closely with the Senior Vice President of Lab Operations to implement strategic scientific initiatives. Key responsibilities include designing and developing innovative, qualified, and validated immunophenotyping assays—including high-content flow cytometry assays up to 31 markers, receptor occupancy assays, tetramer/dextramer assays, and antigen-specific assays (ELISpot/Fluorospot). You will collaborate with senior team members to design experimental plans and timelines that match client specifications, communicate progress to clients, and execute work according to GLP, CAP, and CLIA regulations.
A significant aspect of this role is training and mentoring junior scientists and team members in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and presentation. You will provide hands-on technical expertise, assist in setting lab priorities, motivate the team, participate in recruitment, and contribute to revenue forecasting. Additional responsibilities include writing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs), generating technical reports and client communications, authoring posters and peer-reviewed papers, writing reviews and white papers, and serving as an internal thought leader on technical advances and industry trends.
You will track and trend laboratory efficiency and quality, perform duties with high independence and efficiency, and promote the company through networking, speaking engagements, and professional association activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Required:
- Ph.D. in life sciences or relevant field (preferably Immunology or Cellular Biology)
- At least 8 years of full-time post-doctoral laboratory experience
Other Required:
- Strong bench scientist skills in cell-based assays; hands-on flow cytometry experience is required
- Preferably experience with ELISpot and other cell-based assays
- Core competencies in standard biology laboratory experience (cell isolation, primary cell-based assays)
- Experience with cell sorting, troubleshooting, client relationships, alliance partnerships, and timelines
- Experience in validation/qualification of assays to CAP/CLIA/GLP or ISO guidelines
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experienced in technical report generation
- Ability to differentiate colors on the full color spectrum
- Ability to lift and carry 1–15 lbs.; lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequently sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; may be exposed to cold freezer environments (-20°C to -196°C)
- Fluent English (read, write, speak, comprehend)
Preferred:
- 10–15+ years' experience as a core lab member with leadership role as direct manager of flow cytometry team
- Industrial experience and/or management of outside collaborations
- Experience with viral infections, cell culture and cell line derivation, nucleic acid extraction from primary human samples, and nucleic acid characterization by spectrophotometer, Agilent, and fluorescence-based detection
