Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving using an end-to-end learning approach. The Driving Product team owns the core end-to-end driving model that directly shapes vehicle behavior on the road. This model underpins production agreements with Nissan and Mercedes, with further OEM partnerships in development. In this role, you will lead the team iterating on L2 driving performance, balancing hands-on technical work with team leadership. You'll diagnose the highest-impact issues observed on the road, root cause them, and resolve them through data and model iteration. You'll own changes to data recipes, model architecture, evaluation, and release readiness for the driving model, while partnering with cross-functional teams to resolve issues spanning the model and vehicle interface. Day-to-day responsibilities include: - Leading the team iterating on L2 driving performance with a balance of hands-on technical contribution and team direction - Diagnosing and root-causing high-impact issues from real-world driving data - Owning data recipes, model architecture, evaluation frameworks, and release readiness - Partnering across teams to resolve cross-functional model and vehicle interface problems - Acting as a key hands-on developer, writing code and running experiments while directing team priorities - Working on the end-to-end driving model powering Wayve's L2 product and OEM partnerships - Scaling driving model performance across geographies and vehicle platforms while meeting performance and compliance KPIs - Leading data-driven iteration cycles using on-road and off-road evaluation - Growing and shaping a small, high-impact team (initially up to five people) as the program scales Wayve operates a hybrid model with main hubs in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg. The company emphasizes that much of how they work is still being written, and they seek people who want real ownership. Requirements: - Highly technical and hands-on; comfortable writing Python and performing model and data iteration independently, not just directing others - Demonstrated delivery of deployed, production ML models, ideally in robotics or autonomous vehicles, with experience shipping and iterating on ML for embodied AI applications - Alternatively, experience productionizing ML models at another company with a track record of delivering incremental improvements to live systems over time - Production-focused experience rather than primarily research or early-stage exploration - Commitment to continuing deeply technical work, whether or not you've managed people before; the company values strong individual contributors and tech leads as much as experienced managers - Passion for autonomy and willingness to learn (the posting explicitly welcomes applications from those not meeting every requirement)
