MaintainX, now part of Autodesk Operations Solutions, is a mobile-first work execution platform used by 13,000+ customers including Duracell, McDonald's, Shell, DHL, and Volvo to manage 13.9 million assets and 79.5 million work orders. The Platform & Infrastructure team owns the shared services, design systems, and developer tooling that every product team depends on—including identity, search, communication, the Pantry design system, internal tooling, CI/CD, SRE, and compliance infrastructure.
In this Principal Full-Stack Developer role, you will set technical direction for shared services and components across the organization. You'll lead the design and delivery of large, ambiguous projects end-to-end, from planning through production. You'll partner directly with Product Managers, Designers, Engineering leadership, and the engineers who build on your work to shape your team's roadmap and influence adjacent teams. You own the long-term technical health of a platform domain—reliability, performance, and the parts of the codebase that matter most when they break.
You'll drive architecture decisions, write technical proposals others build against, and mentor senior and staff engineers while setting the standard for code review. You'll raise the bar on tooling, testing, and delivery practices across teams. You'll treat internal engineers as your customers: gather feedback, measure adoption, and iterate. Within your first 6 months, you'll own the technical direction of a platform domain or system outright.
The core stack is TypeScript, React, Node.js, and MySQL, with some teams using C# or Python. You'll land on a team of 5–10 people and take on-call rotation. MaintainX prefers teams to be located around office hubs in Canada (Montreal and Toronto) or the US, with no strict minimum in-office mandate.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of professional experience building full-stack web or mobile products, with a track record of leading technical work at a scope beyond a single team
- Deep hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Experience designing shared systems that held up at scale, and judgment to know when not to build something
- Experience with mobile-first, responsive, iterative development
- Track record of writing maintainable, testable code you're comfortable handing off to others
- Strong written and verbal communication: ability to explain technical tradeoffs to designers, support leads, executives, and developers
- Comfort making progress on a problem before the spec is fully settled, adjusting as you learn more
- Day-to-day use of AI tools in your development workflow, not just occasional experimentation
- Nice to have: GraphQL, React Native, or SQL database experience; experience with search technology, authentication and identity, design systems or component libraries, developer tooling or IDE extensions, CI/CD, observability, or compliance programs such as FedRAMP or SOC 2
