MaintainX, now part of Autodesk Operations Solutions, is a mobile-first work execution platform (CMMS) used by 13,000+ customers including Duracell, McDonald's, Shell, DHL, and Volvo to manage 13.9 million assets and 79.5 million work orders. The Core team owns the heart of the platform: work orders, planning and scheduling, inventory and parts, reporting, and asset hierarchy that frontline teams use daily.
You will lead the design and delivery of large, ambiguous projects end-to-end, from planning through production. You'll partner directly with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineering leadership to shape your team's roadmap and influence adjacent teams. You own the long-term technical health of a domain—reliability, performance, and codebase stability. You drive architecture decisions, write technical proposals others build against, and mentor senior and staff engineers while setting code review standards.
The Core team is investing heavily in new initiatives, including a newly formed Work Execution Platform team (work order primitives, recurrence, assignment, calendar, procedures, automations, permits) and a rebuilt Technician Experience from scratch (GPS check-in, field UX, offline state). Other domains include Planners (scheduling and operating hours), Inventory Management/Parts (spare parts, purchase orders, forecasting), Home/Reporting (overview screens and scheduled reports), Enterprise Data Management (multi-site capabilities, templates, asset hierarchy, dynamic forms), and Technician Experience.
You'll solve hard product problems: dense, data-heavy interfaces, large datasets, offline behavior, and multi-site scale. On newly formed teams, you'll define architecture and engineering practices from the ground up. You'll make complex workflows feel simple on desktop and mobile. Within your first 6 months, you'll own the technical direction of a domain or system outright.
The core stack is TypeScript, React, Node.js, and MySQL; some teams use C# or Python. You'll land on a team of 5–10 people and take on-call rotation. The company prefers teams located around office hubs in Canada (Montreal and Toronto) or the US, with no strict minimum in-office mandate.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of professional experience building full-stack web or mobile products, with a track record of leading technical work at a scope beyond a single team
- Deep hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Experience designing systems that held up at scale, with judgment to know when not to build something
- Experience with mobile-first, responsive, iterative development
- Track record of writing maintainable, testable code you're comfortable handing off
- Strong written and verbal communication: explain technical tradeoffs to designers, support leads, executives, and developers
- Comfort making progress on problems before specs are fully settled, adjusting as you learn
- Day-to-day use of AI tools in development workflow, not just occasional experimentation
- Nice to have: GraphQL, React Native, or SQL database experience; scheduling or calendar UIs, data-heavy front ends, offline-first or sync architectures, multi-tenant or enterprise platforms, workflow engines, or inventory and transactional systems
