OneTrust is seeking a Principal Architect to set technical direction across the company's product platform as part of Architecture Services, a central architecture team. Principal Architects are among the most senior individual-contributor technologists in R&D, shaping multi-year architecture strategy and working across product domains on problems no single team can solve alone.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture Strategy & Technical Direction: Lead multi-year architecture strategy across OneTrust's product domains, working with domain architects to align technical plans into unified platform direction. Lead resolution of cross-domain architectural challenges and align stakeholders on platform-wide technical decisions.
Cross-System Integrity & Feasibility: Set direction for the platform's non-functional requirements, including security, privacy, reliability, performance, scalability, and cost. Participate early in product discovery and roadmap planning to assess feasibility and identify risks before designs are finalized.
Standards & Governance: Propose R&D-wide architecture standards, reference architectures, and patterns to the Architecture Guild, which owns and adopts them. Guide the design documentation process and apply governance that doesn't block delivery.
AI-Native Architecture Enablement: Drive architecture decisions that enable AI-native product capabilities and help product teams understand architectural implications of AI integration.
OneTrust's mission is to enable innovation through responsible use of data and AI. The company provides an AI-Ready Governance Platform that unifies regulatory intelligence, automation, and connected governance workflows. The role is based in Atlanta with an office-first culture encouraging three days per week in office, with flexibility depending on role scope.
Requirements:
- 15+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in architecture roles
- Proven track record leading architecture strategy and multi-year technical roadmaps
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and modern data architectures
- Experience designing for non-functional requirements: security, privacy, reliability, performance, scalability, and cost optimization
- Strong communication skills to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with AI/ML integration in enterprise platforms
- Familiarity with Team Topologies or similar operating models for architecture functions
