Highrise AI, a GPU-native infrastructure platform subsidiary of Hut 8 Corp., is seeking a Principal AI Systems Engineer to design, deploy, integrate, and operate supporting infrastructure for large-scale AI compute clusters. The role is hands-on and principal-level, working alongside senior compute, networking, and infrastructure engineers to lead deployment and configuration of general-purpose compute, virtualization, high-performance storage, infrastructure services, identity management, and security platforms.
Key responsibilities span systems infrastructure deployment and integration, storage infrastructure and performance optimization, networking and security, and production operations and escalation. Specific duties include:
**Systems Infrastructure Deployment & Integration:**
- Lead deployment and configuration of general-purpose x86 servers, Linux operating systems, virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Proxmox, or equivalent), and supporting infrastructure services
- Implement and maintain automated bare-metal provisioning, imaging, firmware management, and configuration workflows
- Deploy and integrate core infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, NTP, IPAM, and DCIM platforms such as Infoblox and NetBox
- Establish standardized configurations, infrastructure baselines, and scalable deployment procedures across multiple AI cluster environments
**Storage Infrastructure & Performance:**
- Deploy, configure, and optimize high-performance storage platforms including WEKA, VAST Data, and other distributed storage solutions
- Implement and manage file, object, and block storage services, including NFS and S3-compatible interfaces
- Validate storage availability, performance, capacity, resilience, and integration with GPU compute environments
**Networking & Security:**
- Design and deploy network infrastructure supporting high-bandwidth, low-latency GPU cluster communication
- Implement identity management, access control, and security platforms
- Establish security baselines and compliance frameworks for infrastructure
**Production Operations & Escalation:**
- Provide Tier 3 technical escalation, advanced troubleshooting, and ongoing optimization of production infrastructure
- Bring systems from initial installation through integration, validation, and production acceptance
- Monitor and optimize infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
Highrise AI combines bare-metal performance with full-stack orchestration, API-driven access, and hardware-enforced isolation to support training, fine-tuning, and production-scale deployment of AI models.
