Wispr AI is building the voice interface for computing. The company's first products—Flow (a natural voice interface for any application) and Notetaker (context-building across conversations)—represent a shift toward AI systems that perceive, understand, and act with earned trust. Wispr is a talent-dense team focused on solving hard problems across models, systems, and product design.
As Platform Engineer, Android, you will own the reliability and performance foundations that make Flow work seamlessly across the fragmented Android ecosystem. You'll be the primary Android specialist on a small, high-impact team, responsible for turning device fragmentation and manufacturer-specific challenges into durable, scalable systems.
Key responsibilities:
- Own reliability and performance across Android versions and device manufacturers
- Identify and fix systemic failure modes at their root
- Improve observability, diagnostics, and operational feedback loops
- Evolve the architecture and shared foundations behind Flow on Android
- Set the foundation for future Wispr product experiences on Android
You'll work on hard technical problems—chasing 99.99%+ reliability through instrumentation, testing, and diagnostics. The role demands deep systems thinking and the ability to serve as the primary Android authority on a small team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep, recent production experience building Android applications or platforms
- Deep understanding of the Android platform and ecosystem
- Proven ability to solve hard technical problems related to device fragmentation and manufacturer-specific behavior
- Systems-level thinking and root-cause problem solving
- Experience driving reliability improvements through instrumentation, testing, or diagnostics
- Comfort serving as primary Android specialist on a small team
- Experience with voice, machine learning, or iOS is helpful but not required
