Lyric is an enterprise AI platform built for supply chain optimization, serving Fortune 500 companies including Smurfit WestRock, Estée Lauder, and Coca-Cola. The company provides out-of-the-box AI solutions for network optimization, inventory allocation, route scheduling, demand planning, and scenario analysis, combined with a platform-first approach enabling both business and technical users to compose and customize solutions.
This Platform Engineer role focuses on building the foundational framework that agentic systems are built upon—not individual agents themselves. You'll work across both the framework layer (primitives, execution loops, orchestration patterns, infrastructure) and production agents that power Lyric's experiences including AgentFlow and Copilot/Ask Q.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and evolving the core framework for creating and orchestrating agents across Lyric
- Designing and implementing production-grade agentic loops, tools, abstractions, and execution patterns
- Building agents on top of the framework, not just infrastructure
- Owning engineering problems end-to-end from approach through implementation
- Contributing independent ideas rather than following tightly prescribed specifications
- Evaluating emerging techniques and translating research and new frameworks into production systems
- Working closely with a small GenAI engineering team on problems where implementation approaches are still being discovered
- Establishing engineering patterns for a rapidly evolving software category
This is a role at the intersection of infrastructure and applied AI, where you'll help define how agentic software is built and deployed at scale.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Real production experience building agentic systems or applications (not just personal projects or POCs)
- Hands-on experience with agent frameworks, orchestration, tool use, multi-step execution, or similar agentic architectures
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and track record of taking ambiguous problems from idea to working system
- Production software experience in Python
- Ability to pick up unfamiliar systems independently, explore implementations, and make sound engineering decisions
- High technical curiosity and comfort operating in an ecosystem where best practices change quickly
- Target experience level: approximately 4–6 years of software engineering, though depth of relevant agentic experience matters more than years
NICE TO HAVE:
- Strong product instincts and ability to connect technical decisions to user outcomes
- Experience building developer platforms, frameworks, or internal infrastructure
- Experience exposing agentic capabilities to other developers or external customers
- Habit of following current AI research and engineering developments and testing promising ideas
- Experience in environments where technical architecture evolves quickly
Note: Your current tech stack doesn't need to match Lyric's (Python + in-house infrastructure). Understanding underlying agentic concepts matters more than knowing specific tools. Formal ML research credentials are not required. Strong candidates often come from backend, full-stack, or frontend backgrounds who moved aggressively into applied AI.
