Code Metal is the leader in automated software engineering using formal methods to verify AI-generated code. As People Operations Generalist, you will own core day-to-day People Team execution and report to the Director of People Operations. This is a builder role where many processes are still young, giving you agency to improve and scale them.
Key responsibilities include:
- Employee lifecycle execution: manage onboarding, offboarding, job changes, and background checks from offer to last day; maintain accurate employee roster and Justworks data
- Execute people programs: run twice-yearly feedback cycles, compensation reviews, and new hire onboarding including timelines, manager packets, and follow-through
- Administer benefits and leave: serve as first stop for benefits questions, run open enrollment, manage leaves of absence
- Ensure compliance as the company hires in new states: manage I-9s, required postings and trainings, state registrations, handbook and policy updates; partner with Security and Facility Security Officer to meet government work standards
- Build scalable systems: evaluate PEO-to-HRIS transition, roll out new systems, automate manual workflows
- Turn people data into insights: build and maintain headcount, org, and program reports
- Be a trusted resource: answer employee and manager questions with discretion, document processes, identify patterns, and address root causes
You will work closely with Recruiting, Business Operations, Finance, IT, and Security teams.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years in People Operations or HR generalist roles, including time at a fast-growing startup
- Hands-on experience running core HR/People operations on a PEO or HRIS
- Working knowledge of U.S. employment compliance across multiple states, including Massachusetts and California
- Demonstrated execution of at least one people program end-to-end (e.g., open enrollment, review cycle, onboarding program)
- Proficiency in Google Sheets, data reconciliation across systems, building reports, and data storytelling
- Strong judgment and discretion with confidential information; ability to know when to follow policy and when to flag exceptions
- Excellent verbal and written communication with warm, clear, accessible employee engagement style
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience at a defense, government contracting, or other regulated company
- Experience selecting or implementing an HRIS or complex software tool
- Experience running communications for people programs (rollouts, all-hands segments, manager toolkits)
- Familiarity with automation, no-code, or AI tools (Zapier, Google Apps Script, etc.)
