The Payroll Administrator will serve as the local representative of the Payroll Department for French payroll operations. This role is responsible for processing, reviewing, and auditing France payroll with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The position will support French new-hire and employee lifecycle payroll requirements, partner with payroll vendors on statutory reporting and filings, serve as the main point of contact for France payroll-related employee inquiries, and support Global Payroll leadership with French payroll law, local custom, and compliance research. While the primary focus is French payroll, the role will also work with the EU payroll team to support payroll operations across other European and UK payrolls.
Key responsibilities include: processing, reviewing, and auditing France payroll while assisting with other European payrolls; partnering with local HR and Talent Acquisition to facilitate collection and processing of documentation required by company policy and French/EU regulations; coordinating French new-hire payroll requirements including DPAE/pre-employment declaration support; partnering with payroll vendors to facilitate timely and compliant filing for French statutory reporting and payments; reviewing French pay slips and payroll outputs for accuracy; monitoring, reconciling, and coordinating French payroll-related payments and filings; acting as the main point of contact for France payroll-related employee inquiries; serving as liaison with French payroll vendors, local HR, Finance, Legal, Tax, and local government agencies; supporting Corporate Headquarters with research on French/EU payroll laws and compliance requirements; maintaining payroll procedures, checklists, and audit support; identifying and driving opportunities for improvement in payroll accuracy and controls; and building strong collaborative relationships with team members and business partners.
The role requires flexibility in a growing environment, with partnerships across US time zones. Travel is under 5%, with standard 40-hour weeks, typically Monday–Friday.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting, HR, or job-related field
- 4+ years Payroll experience, including at least 2+ years of hands-on France payroll processing or France payroll oversight
- Proficiency with payroll software, HRIS, Microsoft Excel, outsourced payroll provider portals, and payroll file review
- Payroll-related experience in France, including experience working with an outsourced French payroll provider
- Native French speaker and fluent English (at least business-level command of both spoken and written)
- Proficient in French statutory payroll requirements including DPAE/pre-employment declarations, monthly DSN and event-based DSN reporting, social insurance, income tax withholding at source, work rules, statutory reporting, and payroll-related employee lifecycle requirements
- Understanding of local custom vs. local requirements and ability to balance business needs
- Working knowledge of French pay slip requirements and payroll outputs including gross-to-net calculations, employee and employer social contributions, taxable and social net amounts, reimbursements, benefits, leave, sick leave, maternity/paternity, work accident, and termination payroll items
- Understanding of how French collective bargaining agreements and local policies affect payroll items
- Ability to execute tasks and meet critical deadlines in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner while managing multiple competing priorities
- Superior customer service delivery when communicating with employees and resolving payroll concerns
- Ability to balance timely resolution with quality responses, demonstrating empathy

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Payroll-related experience in Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and/or UK
- Experience with implementing new payroll software/technology
- Experience with Cloudpay
