Snorkel AI is a frontier AI data lab founded out of Stanford in 2019, helping teams build datasets, benchmarks, evals, and custom solutions for high-performing AI systems. The company works with leading AI labs and enterprises to move from better data to better outcomes.
As Operations Manager - Supply, you will be the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for supply operations across one or more specialized expert domains within Snorkel's expert network. You will own the middle of the funnel for expert contributors (ECs), from onboarding through project assignment, ensuring the right experts in the right numbers are allocated and productive when projects need them.
Key responsibilities include:
**Planning & Forecasting**: Build staffing plans for every project in your domains, including role mix, peak targets, ramp timing, and source mix. Maintain a pre-vetted bench of experts sized against forecast demand and flag gaps to the Delivery team before projects peak. Redeploy experts from ending projects before sourcing new ones.
**Allocation & Matching**: Allocate experts based on credentials, domain fit, and past performance—not just availability. Work closely with Delivery to understand what drives high-quality, high-acceptance work in each domain and feed that insight back into vetting and matching processes.
**Ownership & Metrics**: You will be measured on: (1) how many projects hit their staffing targets, (2) how fast supply arrives, (3) how many allocated experts get assigned to a project, and (4) how quickly new experts find work. When metrics slip, you diagnose and fix the root cause.
**Cross-Functional Partnership**: Serve as the single point of contact for pod leadership. Turn shifting priorities into supply moves, escalate constraints early with options attached, and align Delivery, recruiting, and external BPO partners who have competing priorities.
**Process & Scale**: Turn your work into repeatable SOPs and help automate them so the team scales with domains, not individual requests.
The role is hybrid, with offices in New York City and San Francisco. Which domains you own will depend on demand when you join and will shift as the portfolio evolves.
**Requirements**:
- 4+ years in supply operations, workforce operations, staffing operations, marketplace operations, or comparable role in a fast-moving environment
- Experience sourcing, allocating, or managing a pool of specialized talent and making trade-off calls when demand exceeds available supply
- Comfort with data: ability to pull your own numbers in SQL or a BI tool; experience using a system of record (Airtable, Salesforce, or similar) as more than a logging tool
- Experience building capacity plans or forecasts, including scenario planning when demand signals are uncertain
- Track record of bringing structure to ambiguous processes: writing SOPs, getting people to follow them, and improving them once running
- Strong cross-functional communication skills
- High ownership and bias toward action, with judgment to escalate decisions appropriately
**Nice to have**:
- Experience working with credentialed or highly specialized professionals (engineers, clinicians, researchers, attorneys)
- Familiarity with credentialing, licensure verification, or handling regulated data
- Experience with AI training data, annotation, or expert-in-the-loop work
