As Office Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Wallingford office and support the senior management team. This is a hands-on, broad role typical of a growing startup—one moment you might be setting up equipment for a new hire, the next negotiating with suppliers or planning a team offsite.
Key responsibilities include:
**Office & Workplace:** Run daily operations including supplies, snacks, cleaning, and maintenance. Ensure the space is safe, tidy, and welcoming. Handle health and safety requirements, fire safety checks, and first aid provisions.
**People & Culture:** Coordinate onboarding and offboarding logistics (equipment, accounts, desk setup, welcome packs). Plan team events, socials, all-hands meetings, and company offsites. Serve as a friendly first point of contact for team questions and requests. Help shape and protect company culture as the organization scales.
**Admin & Operations:** Maintain accurate records for equipment, licenses, and insurance. Arrange travel and accommodation for team and leadership. Provide occasional diary and admin support to founders and leadership.
**Systems & Improvement:** Set up and improve processes, checklists, and documentation as the company scales. Help with IT basics like laptop setup and access coordination. Proactively identify problems and suggest improvements.
You are proactive, build rapport easily, observe and preemptively support management, and are passionate about personal growth. You thrive in ambiguity and are comfortable with high autonomy and accountability.
**Requirements:**
- Minimum 5 years in an office management position, ideally in a startup environment
- Experience overseeing invoicing/accounts and managing company payments
- Experience with internal or external events organization
- Comfort with ambiguity, high autonomy, and accountability; willingness to roll up sleeves
