VAST Data is building the data platform for the AI era, providing enterprise software infrastructure to capture, catalog, refine, enrich, and protect massive datasets for real-time analysis and AI training/inference. As a Network Engineer in VAST's Field Engineering organization, you will define how VAST connects to the world through reference architectures, validated switch configurations, and RDMA fabric designs that underpin every customer deployment. This is a design and research role focused on building and running the lab where new switches, NICs, and network operating systems are qualified before reaching customers. Key responsibilities include: - Investigating fabric behavior across different speeds (e.g., 800G vs. 100G) and translating findings into standards used across the field organization - Reproducing and explaining novel issues encountered by strategic customers, then preventing recurrence for future deployments - Collaborating across R&D, QA, Support, Product, and customer engineering teams - Working directly with major networking vendors including NVIDIA, Arista, Cisco, and Juniper - Operating at the intersection of AI infrastructure's most challenging domains: GPU fabrics, lossless Ethernet, and storage protocols at line rate The role emphasizes technical depth and problem-solving rather than support queue management. You will own the qualification and validation process for new networking technologies and be responsible for establishing best practices that scale across VAST's customer base.
