Join Airbnb's Quality Platform team, which sits at the intersection of Quality Engineering, Infrastructure, and Applied AI. This team is evolving how software quality is built by integrating LLMs, intelligent automation, and data-driven systems into the testing lifecycle.
As a Mobile Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor to developing the Quality Platform across both native mobile stacks (iOS and Android). You will help build the foundation for how quality is engineered across Airbnb's mobile ecosystems, developing tools and frameworks that enable the mobile platform to scale while keeping developers productive and confident.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building AI-driven solutions: Contribute to AI-native agents that automate repetitive testing tasks and provide intelligent feedback to developers on both platforms.
- Delivering scalable infrastructure: Develop and maintain high-scale platforms and testing environments used daily by iOS and Android engineering organizations.
- Promoting engineering craft: Implement best-in-class mobile patterns and modularity to improve testability and fault-tolerance across native codebases.
- Contributing to operational excellence: Ensure automated systems are performant and reliable, making data-driven decisions to optimize the CI/CD lifecycle.
- Designing and sustaining foundational testing frameworks in Swift and Kotlin, emphasizing high performance and developer-centric reliability.
- Integrating LLM-powered solutions to drive autonomous test discovery and smart orchestration across native mobile ecosystems.
- Partnering with cross-functional mobile teams to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure robust quality is integrated into early development stages.
- Scaling distributed testing systems to optimize CI/CD lifecycle and reduce build latency for both iOS and Android.
- Working alongside Research and Data Science teams to prototype next-generation quality engineering tools.
- Participating in code reviews and quality standards advocacy across the organization.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of professional mobile development experience in a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment
- Working knowledge of both Kotlin/Android SDK and Swift/iOS SDK
- Experience with modern build tools (Gradle, Xcode)
- Demonstrated experience building or extending test automation frameworks (e.g., Espresso, Compose Test, XCUITest) and mobile infrastructure
- Passion for building tools and SDKs that serve other engineers and improve developer experience across platforms
- Eagerness to learn and apply AI/LLMs to solve complex engineering and quality challenges
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex codebases and take ownership of features or components from implementation to deployment
- Effective communication skills with ability to collaborate across diverse technical and product teams
