Vambe is seeking a Mobile Software Engineer to own and develop their mobile application, which serves over 2,000 monthly active users. This is a full-time, in-office role based in Las Condes, Chile, with significant growth potential to become the application owner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the mobile app development end-to-end, including new feature development and maintenance
- Develop and maintain delivery pipelines using EAS (builds, versioning, releases, feature flags, rollbacks)
- Build backend services for the web app, including APIs, integrations, and data models supporting both mobile and platform
- Integrate and experiment with new AI tools and technologies to enhance products and processes
- Monitor production health: crashes, performance, observability, version compatibility
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify problems and opportunities, bringing technical and creative perspectives
- Contribute to architectural design and technology selection
- Maintain high standards of code quality, security, and efficiency
- Document and communicate work to ensure continuity and scalability
The role requires a combination of technical skills, critical thinking, and adaptability to integrate emerging AI tools and advances on an ongoing basis.
Requirements:
- Education: Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline
- Proven experience in mobile development, ideally in dynamic or startup environments
- Demonstrated experience with production mobile applications
- Proficiency in React Native and Expo for mobile development
- Backend development experience with Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL
- API design, data modeling, and production service experience
- Knowledge and/or experience integrating AI tools
- Strong software design skills, data structures, and architectural patterns
- Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Autonomous and proactive learning capability
Nice-to-have:
- EAS and automated release pipeline experience
- App Store Connect and Google Play Console experience (certificates, staged rollouts, review processes)
- Native development experience (Swift or Kotlin) for cases where Expo has limitations
- Push notifications, offline mode, and unstable network handling
- Mid-range Android optimization experience (relevant for users in Chile, Mexico, Brazil)
- Creative and innovative thinking with ability to propose original technical solutions
- Critical analysis skills for evaluating complex problems and making informed architectural decisions
- Agility and adaptability in learning new technologies and responding to changing priorities
- Effective collaboration across product, design, business, and technology teams
