Vannevar Labs builds AI systems for the U.S. Department of Defense across all branches and combatant commands. The company deploys forward with operational units, embedding engineers and product teams directly at the point of friction to solve high-impact national security missions.
You will own a portfolio of economic security deployments spanning the U.S. government, foreign partner governments, and the commercial sector. Your mission is to identify hard problems where Vannevar's AI technology can make a difference—protecting critical technologies and supply chains, strengthening industrial capacity, and countering adversary economic activity—and turn those problems into revenue-generating deployments.
This is not a traditional business development or customer success role. You will develop your own thesis about where to focus, conduct deep research to become credible in the mission space, and build highly tailored technical demonstrations and narratives for audiences ranging from working-level users to senior executives. You'll own customer relationships end-to-end: earning trust, expanding into adjacent mission groups, and growing deployments once value is proven.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning a portfolio of economic security customer relationships across government, allied nations, and commercial partners
- Developing hypotheses about mission problems and converting them into deployments through trials and engagements
- Building and defending product-market-fit theses by connecting specific mission problems to concrete workflows and demonstrating why Vannevar's technology solves them better than existing tools
- Conducting deep research and delivering technical narratives and tailored briefings to working-level and executive stakeholders
- Sustaining and expanding fielded user groups through engagement techniques and in-person interactions
- Partnering cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and forward-deployed teams to scope development, collection, and security requirements
- Operating independently in ambiguous, still-forming organizational environments
- Navigating budget cycles and contracting vehicles to create revenue-generating opportunities
Requirements:
- 5+ years owning outcomes in complex, ambiguous government, defense, or intelligence community environments
- Prior national security experience relevant to strategic and economic competition; deep understanding of missions, customer needs, and opportunities from lived experience
- Deep curiosity about leading-edge software; ability to understand how new technology works and develop novel applications for national security missions
- Strong conceptual thinking skills to synthesize mission data, customer requirements, and technological capabilities into new ideas
- Strong product-market-fit instincts; ability to articulate specific mission problems, connect them to concrete software workflows, and explain why Vannevar's technology solves them uniquely
- High comfort operating with autonomy in ambiguous organizations; ability to achieve concrete outcomes with minimal guidance or supervision
- Sufficient technical fluency to partner credibly with Product and Engineering teams without overclaiming capability
- Sound judgment about when to move fast versus when to socialize ideas internally; strong internal and external communication skills
- U.S. Person status with current Top Secret clearance (required)
- Must be based in Washington, D.C.; work requires time in secure/classified environments and periodic travel
