Perplexity's Enterprise Trust & Governance team is building the control plane that enables large organizations to deploy Perplexity's AI agents and computer systems with confidence and precision. This is a product and platform engineering role with end-to-end ownership spanning architecture, policy models, and customer-facing experiences.
You will own the enterprise identity and provisioning layer, including SSO (SAML/OIDC), SCIM, and integrations with identity providers like Okta and Microsoft Entra ID. You'll build a fine-grained permissions platform that enforces role-based access controls consistently across connectors, tool actions, models, and agent workflows. The role includes designing secure, well-documented admin APIs for audit logs, members, groups, roles, and settings; building policy controls for model availability, staged rollouts, usage limits, and cost-center allocation; and delivering admin-facing analytics for adoption, usage, spend, and compliance.
Key responsibilities also include setting the technical bar for authorization correctness and reliability with fast, consistent permission checks and strong tenant isolation; delivering audit logs and change notifications for compliance and investigation; and partnering across Product, Design, Security, Sales, and Customer Success to translate enterprise requirements into reusable platform capabilities.
This role requires strong system design skills, hands-on backend engineering, and deep expertise in enterprise identity, permissions platforms, encryption/key management, or admin infrastructure. You'll lead ambiguous cross-team initiatives, set technical direction for shared platforms, and raise engineering quality through mentorship.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of owning complex backend systems from design through production operation
- Strong system design skills, including building reliable, scalable, multi-tenant SaaS platforms with clear security and isolation boundaries
- Strong proficiency in a backend language such as Python, Go, or Rust, and hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS and Kubernetes
- Deep expertise in at least one of: Enterprise identity and provisioning (OAuth, OIDC, SAML, SCIM); Permissions platforms, fine-grained authorization, and policy enforcement; Encryption, customer-managed keys, and key lifecycle management; Enterprise admin platforms, audit infrastructure, or usage and spend analytics
- Experience building or integrating enterprise identity and access systems, including platforms such as WorkOS, Okta, or Microsoft Entra ID
- Sound technical judgment in security-sensitive systems, balancing threat models, authorization correctness, and failure behavior with usability and delivery speed
- Track record of leading ambiguous, cross-team initiatives from architecture through adoption, setting technical direction for shared platforms, and raising engineering quality through mentorship
