Abundant is building simulation infrastructure for next-generation AI models to learn, reason, and solve complex problems at scale. The company partners with leading AI labs, frontier startups, and Fortune 500 enterprises to enable AGI, ASI, and physical intelligence. The founding team includes former founders, ML engineers, roboticists, and data leads from Waymo and Google with experience deploying models at 1B+ user scale.
As a Member of Technical Staff in Platform Engineering, you will work directly with the Head of Engineering to build, scale, and deploy projects that serve both customer-facing products and internal infrastructure. In your first 30 days, you will take ownership of key components of the core simulation engine, adding new features or optimizing performance. You'll drive critical metrics including throughput and cost efficiency, ensuring the platform can scale to handle 10B+ events and tens of thousands of monthly users (both human and virtual agents). You will also play a foundational role in establishing engineering culture as the technical team grows.
You'll transition seamlessly between customer-facing work and internal infrastructure, taking on projects from conception through deployment. This is a high-impact role requiring both technical depth and the ability to operate independently with founder-level agency.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep technical understanding of evaluations, reinforcement learning (RL), and how LLMs and AI agents work
- Research-oriented mindset with ability to read and stay current with state-of-the-art literature
- Extreme ownership mentality with founder-level agency; resourceful and scrappy problem-solving approach
- Creative problem-solving skills to design and architect projects from the ground up
- High proficiency with coding agents such as Codex or Claude Code
