Fireworks is building a Product-Led Growth (PLG) team and seeking a creative, high-agency product engineer to be one of its first members. You'll own the growth platform—the systems and experiences that guide developers from first visit through first successful API call to long-term, expanding customer relationships.
The role spans the full developer journey: signup, onboarding, documentation, API and playground, model selection, error handling, pricing, billing, and lifecycle messaging across inference, training, and the broader platform. You'll diagnose customer problems, ideate solutions, and run experiments to discover what works in a fast-moving market.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning developer outcomes end-to-end: identifying problems, shaping solutions, prototyping, shipping to production, instrumenting, and learning from results
- Building growth foundations the team lacks: event tracking, funnels, experimentation frameworks, and lifecycle messaging
- Designing and running rigorous experiments with clear hypotheses, appropriate metrics, and honest readouts
- Talking directly with developers to understand where they struggle and translating those insights into working code
- Crafting polished, fast, accessible experiences on the marketing site and within the product
- Analyzing funnel and cohort data to identify the next opportunity and communicating findings clearly
- Collaborating closely with product, design, marketing, data, and sales to align self-serve and sales-led motions
- Leveraging AI coding tools to move quickly while maintaining quality
You'll work on acquisition-to-product connections, activation and onboarding optimization, experimentation infrastructure, trust and safety at scale, and monetization/expansion strategies.
Requirements:
- 5+ years building and shipping user-facing products, with substantial time on product or growth surfaces as a senior, staff, or founding engineer
- Demonstrated track record of moving business metrics with specific, quantifiable examples
- Strong full-stack capabilities: TypeScript/React frontend, backend services (Go a plus), APIs, data models, and SQL
- Product engineer mindset: you define both problem and solution, not just implementation
- Designer's sensibility: attention to interaction details, copy, flow, and making technical products feel simple
- Hands-on experience with A/B testing, funnel analysis, and product analytics
- Genuine high agency: history of starting initiatives without mandate, pushing them through, and owning outcomes
- Bias toward action: shipping in days rather than quarters, choosing the right problem over waiting for assignment
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to lead without authority across functions
- Clear written and verbal communication with engineers and non-engineers
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, EE, or equivalent experience
Nice-to-have experience includes growth/activation/monetization at developer-tools or infrastructure companies, building developer-facing products (APIs, SDKs, dev tools, consoles), consumption or usage-based pricing/billing, PLG in hybrid sales environments, trust and safety or identity systems, building with LLM APIs, and a portfolio demonstrating taste and range.
