The platform consolidates marketing work—research, briefs, content, campaigns, reporting—in one place, powered by AI agents that automate tasks like reporting, content drafting, page audits, and competitive research. Built on 2B+ real user prompts, Profound's data reveals what people ask AI and how models respond, enabling the AI Marketer to identify high-impact opportunities and deploy agents to execute. Your role balances people management with technical depth. Key responsibilities: - Hire, develop, and coach a strong engineering team. Set clear expectations, give direct feedback, and foster a culture of ownership, trust, and accountability. - Own team planning and delivery alongside product and the technical lead. Make priorities, capacity, and dependencies explicit; translate broad goals into achievable milestones. - Conduct one-on-ones, career development conversations, and performance reviews. Understand each engineer's growth needs and support their development. - Partner closely with the technical lead (who owns architecture and direction). Use your Rust expertise to ask informed questions, understand technical tradeoffs, and ensure the team has context and capacity to execute. - Identify delivery risks early, remove organizational blockers, and coordinate cross-team dependencies. Communicate progress transparently. - Build sustainable practices around on-call, incidents, and support. Balance operational work with planned delivery, protect team health, and ensure improvement work has dedicated ownership and time. - Coordinate with product and partner engineering teams (including the agent harness team) to align priorities and handoffs across agent execution, automations, and collaborative tools. Requirements: - 10+ years of experience - Strong production Rust proficiency; you have shipped and operated Rust systems and can coach engineers, understand technical tradeoffs, and support the technical lead - Direct engineering management experience including hiring, coaching, performance management, and delivery accountability; ability to demonstrate how you've helped engineers grow and teams become more effective - Experience building and operating complex backend or platform systems, with understanding of failure modes that emerge as usage and complexity grow - Ability to earn trust of senior engineers and technical leads through clear expectations, sound judgment, and follow-through; skill in delegating technical ownership while staying informed and supportive - Ability to balance team health, delivery commitments, and technical investment, making capacity and priority decisions explicit - Clear communication across engineering, product, and other partners, especially when requirements are ambiguous or priorities shift Nice to have: - Experience with workflow engines, durable execution, scheduling, or event-driven systems - Experience building collaborative documents, spreadsheets, file/artifact systems, project workspaces, or calendar products - Experience building products where people and agents work together - Experience growing an engineering team while maintaining technical quality and clear ownership
