Midstream is an AI-native financial operating system for health systems. The company helps finance, supply chain, and managed care teams at large health systems gain real-time visibility into margin risk and actionable plans to capture it. The platform transforms structured, unstructured, and external healthcare data into contract-aware insights powered by AI agents that unify spend and revenue operations across the back-office. As a Member of Technical Staff, you will build AI-native products solving complex, high-impact problems for major health systems. The role is fluid and impact-driven: you might spend a week at a customer site prototyping and testing solutions, then return to HQ to scale those learnings into platform capabilities. Your work will span the full technical stack wherever you can create the most value. Key areas of focus include: - SaaS Platform & Infrastructure: Develop multi-tenant SaaS components including Identity & Access Management, connector provisioning, and infrastructure improvements for speed, reliability, and scalability. - API Development: Design and implement APIs and data models supporting complex healthcare workflows, shared platform capabilities, and customer-specific needs at scale. - ML Platform Development: Leverage foundational models and develop novel ML solutions for complex, high-dimensional healthcare data. - Agentic Workflows: Build AI agents and tools enabling natural-language analytics and rapid insight discovery with source-level traceability. - UI Development: Create intuitive product experiences that translate complex datasets and AI-generated insights into clear, actionable workflows for health system users. - Security & Compliance: Build security into the platform foundation, including encryption, role-based access controls, and infrastructure meeting SOC 2 and HIPAA standards. - Technical Leadership: As part of the early engineering team, work closely with founders, Product, and customers to identify high-impact problems and set technical and cultural standards as the company scales. You will take ownership of critical platform capabilities and move fluidly between foundational platform investments and rapid customer-focused solutions. Impact is defined by the problems you solve, customer learnings, and your ability to turn those learnings into technology creating value across health systems. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related field, or equivalent professional software engineering experience - Excellent coding abilities in high-level languages such as Python and TypeScript with strong software engineering fundamentals - Experience building scalable SaaS platforms, including API design, CI/CD, multi-tenancy, and role-based access control - Strong experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) and infrastructure-as-code technologies (Kubernetes, Terraform) - Ability to leverage cloud-native services across compute, storage, data, and ML applications - Problem-solving skills: energized by hard, ambiguous problems with strong technical judgment to break them down and find paths forward - Strong communication and collaboration skills across Engineering, Product, and health system partners - Adaptability and comfort in fast-moving environments, willing to follow the most important problem across the stack - Excitement about using technology and AI to make meaningful impact on healthcare; commitment to solving real problems over technical elegance alone
