Runway is building AI to simulate the world through generative AI tools for video and creative production. The Applied AI team bridges research and customer production needs, working with the world's largest studios, brands, and Fortune 100 companies to remove blockers between them and production. In this role, you will own customer problems end-to-end. You'll sit with creative, technical, and executive teams to map workflows, identify production blockers, and build solutions—whether that's a missing integration, an unproven pipeline, a proof of concept, or a stakeholder alignment. Your work will appear on Emmy-winning shows, Oscar-winning films, and Super Bowl commercials. Solutions you build for one customer often become product for all of them; the team functions as R&D, not a cost center. Key responsibilities include: - Finding the real problem by mapping how customers actually work and locating the blocker between them and production - Building working proofs of concept on customer footage or brand, often within days, before executive meetings - Turning one-off solutions into reusable workflows, plugins, or integrations for the next ten customers - Owning evaluation plans end-to-end, guiding managed trials, and carrying the technical side of deal cycles - Scoping 4–12 week deployments with customer-defined success criteria - Taking customers from signed contract to first production call in days, not quarters - Presenting technical and strategic information to both engineers and executives - Embedding with Product and Engineering to turn customer insights into roadmap - Measuring outcomes: time to production, usage metrics, and what customers shipped because of your involvement You'll work across offices in NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, and London, with some travel expected. REQUIREMENTS: - You build things that run in production: Python or TypeScript, APIs, integrations, and data pipelines. You can read code, debug it, and explain it line by line to customer engineering teams. You have shipped something a customer actually ran: a workflow, integration, plugin, or internal tool. - You have deployed AI or ML systems and integrations inside complex organizations and can point to measurable outcomes, not just delivery. - You can hold rooms with both executives and engineers, translating between the two. Expect some travel to customer sites. - Nice to have: data tooling (SQL, BigQuery, Retool), or experience in media, entertainment, or advertising production. What Runway values: people who dig into data and code to find real answers, low ego with focus on customer outcomes, comfort with open-ended problems and ability to create structure, builders who prototype and iterate, and adaptive, introspective team members willing to learn, guide, lead, and follow.
