Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following a $200M Series B at $1.4B valuation, the company is expanding teams to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces. As a Mechatronic Engineer, you will design and develop hardware and software for automated testing and inspection platforms within the R&D department. You will create robust, scalable automation tools supporting both product development and manufacturing operations, with primary focus on mechanical development for test automation while collaborating on software and electrical integration. Key responsibilities include: - Design, prototype, and maintain mechanical test fixtures, jigs, and tooling built for reliability, reproducibility, and repeatable operator use - Design physical integration of sensors, actuators, cameras, and other instruments into test stations, collaborating with Automation Software Engineers on control and software layers - Specify and integrate custom solutions from external vendors for testing equipment and instrumentation (RF housings, GNSS, optical systems, etc.) - Work closely with product development, manufacturing, and Infrastructure & Deployment teams to deliver robust, maintainable, and scalable automation solutions for factory and field operations The role is full-time, based in Paris, with immediate availability desired. Contract type is CDI (permanent French employment contract). REQUIREMENTS: - MSc in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related engineering field - Excellent CAD skills with experience in rapid prototyping and robust solution implementation (SolidWorks, Catia, or similar) - Experience working with external vendors and machine shops for part fabrication and test equipment selection - Comfortable performing soldering, wiring, and small-scale electrical circuit work for test system integration - Experience working with electronic assemblies (PCBAs); familiarity with pogo-pin / bed-of-nails fixturing is a strong plus - Knowledge of RF housing design and specifications is a plus - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to design practical, robust engineering solutions - Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
