Mach Industries, founded in 2023, is a rapidly growing defense technology company with ~350 employees focused on developing next-generation autonomous defense platforms. The company operates with startup agility while addressing national security challenges through scalable, decentralized defense systems.
As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will build, instrument, and test mechanical and electro-mechanical systems across the product lifecycle. You'll work hands-on with mechanical, avionics, mechanisms, and flight sciences teams to develop test solutions, execute experiments, analyze results, and rapidly iterate designs. Your work will span from component and coupon-level testing through systems and vehicle-level qualification.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and execute hands-on testing from vehicle-level qualification and design validation to subscale and coupon-based testing
- Own mechanical design and development of test hardware and infrastructure, including integration of mechanical systems with sensors, actuators, and embedded control hardware
- Collaborate with mechanical, avionics, and mechanisms teams to gather requirements, author test plans, lead test readiness reviews, execute testing, and post-process data
- Support prototyping build and test efforts for design iteration
- Develop testing capability through hardware procurement, lab automation, and establishment of test standards, guidelines, and best practices
- Develop test and scripting automation in support of data acquisition, test execution, data processing, and reporting using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent tools
- Support critical development and test milestones, including occasional extended hours and weekends
You will play a key role in prototyping and refining mechanical systems, optimizing designs for performance, survivability, and scalability in next-generation defense technologies.
