Form Energy is a climate technology company developing long-duration iron-air battery systems for grid-scale energy storage. The company has secured contracts with leading US utilities and is ramping production at its first high-volume manufacturing facility in Weirton, WV. The Advanced Product Development team designs the next generation of iron-air battery systems—cells, modules, packs, and support systems—working ahead of production programs to translate electrochemistry breakthroughs into scalable mechanical designs. In this role, you will support the design, build, and test of hardware for next-generation iron-air batteries. You'll have hands-on involvement in system-level design and component design for volume manufacturing. Your work spans heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mechanics, with tight integration across an experienced engineering team. Key responsibilities include: - Lead hands-on prototyping and verification testing of subsystem designs - Drive instrumentation, data collection, and data analysis for system-level validation builds - Own design of components and assemblies for volume manufacturing - Run and analyze trials to inform specifications and future design direction - Execute product development processes on tight timelines You'll be part of a large cross-functional team bringing energy storage systems from concept through release to mass manufacturing at a 550,000-square-foot facility near Pittsburgh. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 1+ years of mechanical design experience, OR Master's degree with research or professional engineering experience - Proficiency with CAD for part and assembly design - Exposure to writing, executing, and analyzing test plans for data-driven decision-making - Experience with prototyping techniques and lab environments - Strong fundamentals in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mechanics Relocation assistance is available.
