Salary: USD 129,000 - 171,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The Anduril Expeditionary Systems (AES) team, part of the Connected Warfare division, builds large form factor products that deliver cutting-edge computing and communications capabilities to soldiers in the field.
In this role, you will own hardware end-to-end, from concept generation through real-world deployment with warfighters. You will design novel hardware solutions for demanding mission sets starting from a blank sheet, working directly with customers to understand battlefield challenges and translate them into engineered solutions. Your responsibilities include:
- Taking full technical ownership across the complete product lifecycle, from concept to field deployment
- Engineering hardware that survives the harshest battlefield conditions through rigorous application of engineering first principles, analysis, and testing
- Building prototypes and first articles yourself, iterating rapidly from idea to physical hardware
- Partnering with manufacturing teams to scale designs and ship at volume
- Serving as a key member of a tight-knit product team in an environment of rapid iteration and technical excellence
- Traveling to field exercises to work directly alongside warfighters, providing hands-on support and gathering feedback for continuous improvement
- Integrating electronic components (motors, controllers, sensors) into mechanical designs
This is a hands-on individual contributor role with significant autonomy and ownership. You will have direct and meaningful impact on products of critical national importance, tackling first-of-their-kind engineering problems that push the boundaries of what's possible on the modern battlefield.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4–8 years of professional mechanical engineering experience
- Demonstrated ability to design, prototype, and ship hardware
- Proven track record of design ownership in a team setting (professional or otherwise)
- High competence with engineering first principles and their fluid application
- Strong CAD skills (any platform) and ability to produce high-quality engineering drawings
- Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills
- BS, M.Eng, MS, or PhD in an engineering field
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities
- Willingness to work onsite at Costa Mesa headquarters the majority of the time
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter
- Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs
- Hands-on experience with machining, sheet metal, composites, and 3D printing
- Knowledge of static, dynamic, or thermal analysis methods and ANSYS application
- Active Top Secret security clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain one
