You will join the engineering team in Lausanne as a Mechanical Design Engineer, owning the physical product design of hardware assemblies, mechanical housings, custom structures, and precision mechanisms. Your responsibilities span the full lifecycle from concept through production-ready hardware.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating fully constrained CAD models, multi-part assembly layouts, and detailed engineering drawings using formal geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards
- Managing engineering change requests, bill of materials data, material libraries, and configuration controls in digital product data systems
- Building and testing physical prototypes, verifying assembly sequences, fit, and tolerance stack-ups; establishing unit build procedures
- Performing structural, thermal, vibration, and mechanical shock simulations to ensure hardware survives harsh operational environments
- Optimizing designs for production methods including CNC machining, stamping, pressing, forging, casting, and injection molding
- Collaborating with electronics, simulation, testing, and systems engineering teams to define physical interface control documents, packaging requirements, and technical datasheets
The role offers direct hands-on work spanning initial CAD concepts through manufacturing and field testing, with broad exposure to complex electromechanical hardware, structural housings, and safety-critical mechanisms.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Strong proficiency in production CAD environments with experience applying formal drafting standards (ASME or ISO GD&T)
- Practical experience with configuration management practices, engineering change notices, and product data systems (Siemens Teamcenter or similar PDM/PLM tools)
- Design experience across multiple manufacturing methods: machining, stamping, casting, forging, and molding
- Ability to perform basic environmental, thermal, shock, and stress evaluations to qualify hardware designs
- Proactive execution mindset with strong hands-on skills for prototype assembly, vendor management, and technical troubleshooting
