Swarm Aero is building the world's largest swarming UAV network and Command & Control software to mobilize thousands of heterogeneous autonomous assets. The company is Series A-funded with a team experienced in aerospace design and defense contracting, including alumni from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will take ownership of developing and scaling manufacturing processes for next-generation autonomous aircraft. Working alongside experienced engineers, designers, and technicians, you'll translate aircraft designs into manufacturable hardware and solve the practical challenges of producing aircraft quickly, efficiently, and reliably.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with design engineers and technicians to improve manufacturability of aircraft components and assemblies
- Support development, testing, and refinement of manufacturing processes for composite and metallic components
- Design, build, and improve tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flows, and assembly procedures
- Identify production bottlenecks, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and implement practical improvements
- Support prototype builds and transition new aircraft designs into repeatable manufacturing processes
- Work hands-on with hardware, test new ideas, and help turn engineering concepts into flight-ready aircraft
This is an early-stage opportunity to take ownership, learn by building, and see your engineering work directly impact production. The role suits someone who is curious, resourceful, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field; equivalent practical experience may be considered
- Experience through internships, academic projects, personal builds, or early-career work in manufacturing, mechanical design, fabrication, or product development
- Foundational understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical assemblies, and engineering drawings
- Proficiency with CAD software such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work through unfamiliar technical challenges
- Effective communication and collaboration across technical disciplines
- Preference for hands-on hardware testing over lengthy meetings; comfort with ambiguity and iteration
- Attention to craftsmanship, quality, and detail
- U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or eligibility to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State (ITAR requirement)
