Slip Robotics is a fast-growing robotics automation company transforming logistics and goods movement through autonomous platforms. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will serve as the critical bridge between the engineering team and production floor, owning engineering change orders (ECOs) from release through full implementation on robots.
You will be a hands-on individual contributor responsible for understanding design changes, building work instructions, and ensuring the production team can execute builds correctly. Your day-to-day will involve time with engineering learning about upcoming changes and time on the production floor observing build flow and gathering feedback. You'll interpret design drawings and CAD models to define assembly steps and equipment layouts, create clear work instructions for production associates, and train teams on updated processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning ECOs end-to-end and guiding changes from engineering release into production
- Assessing how design changes and new equipment will affect production workflows
- Creating and communicating work instructions for new designs, components, and equipment
- Interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models; contributing design work where needed
- Observing production floor operations to identify bottlenecks and gather team feedback
- Translating production insights back to engineering with concrete manufacturability and efficiency improvements
- Supporting new product introduction (NPI) as designs transition from prototype to production
This role offers direct, visible impact on shipped products in a small, fast-paced team environment. Robotics experience is not required; the ideal candidate is comfortable reading drawings in the morning and walking the production line in the afternoon.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
- Experience in an assembly manufacturing environment
- Experience managing or implementing engineering change orders
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models
- Experience writing work instructions and training production teams
- Strong communication skills to translate engineering intent into floor-ready processes and production feedback into engineering action
Nice to have:
- SolidWorks or other CAD design experience
- Experience launching new products into production
- Familiarity with machine shop and metal fabrication processes
- Experience with ERP/MES systems (e.g., NetSuite)
- Startup or fast-paced, ambiguous environment experience
