Salary: USD 258,000 - 376,000 / annual
Figma is seeking a hands-on engineering manager to lead the AI Infrastructure team, which builds foundational inference systems powering Figma's AI products including Figma Make and Figma Agent. The team owns critical production services such as the AI gateway, metering systems, trace infrastructure, and strategy for hosting first-party models.
In this role, you will lead and grow a team of engineers building core AI platform infrastructure. You'll partner with engineering and product leaders across Figma to define technical strategy and manage day-to-day project execution. Key responsibilities include hiring and developing senior and staff engineers, rolling up your sleeves to engage deeply with technical decisions to help the team deliver a robust AI platform with urgency, and building an inclusive team culture through thoughtful practices.
This is a full-time role based in one of Figma's US hubs (San Francisco or New York) or available remotely within the United States. You'll have the opportunity to join a rapidly-growing team at the ground floor and directly contribute to Figma's core AI platform strategy.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing, fast-moving teams, ideally in the AI space
- 8+ years of total engineering experience, ideally reaching staff engineering level as an individual contributor
- Experience working on production AI systems
- Proven track record of motivating, mentoring, and growing experienced AI engineering leads
- Demonstrated ability to learn new AI technologies quickly and build technical depth in new domains
- Experience building and scaling engineering teams and org structure as they grow
PLUS (not required):
- Experience building AI agents, agent harnesses/loops, or LLM/agent tooling platforms
- Experience building high-scale production infrastructure (traffic/inference systems, metering, anti-abuse, billing systems)
- Background in adjacent platform domains like recommendation systems or networking
