Alpaca is a US-headquartered global leader in agent-first brokerage infrastructure serving hundreds of financial institutions across 40 countries. The company is backed by $400 million in funding from top-tier investors and operates a globally distributed team of 400+ members. You will lead Total Rewards strategy and execution for a rapidly growing, globally distributed workforce. This is a hands-on Manager/Senior Manager role where compensation is the center of gravity, but the scope extends well beyond traditional rewards work into high-impact People analytics, headcount planning, and strategic projects. Key responsibilities include: **Total Rewards:** Own day-to-day compensation programs across multiple countries and time zones, including base pay, variable pay, and equity processes. Partner with leaders on offers, promotions, leveling, and pay decisions. Build and maintain job architecture (job IDs, families, levels, titles). Price roles using multiple market data sources and internal data. Run or support compensation cycles (merit, bonus, equity). Implement and configure compensation platforms. Advise on global benefit structures and their interaction with total rewards. Support pay equity and pay transparency compliance. Prepare clear materials for leadership and stakeholders. **Recruiting Partnership:** Provide timely data on ranges, leveling guidance, and offer competitiveness. Maintain job ID integrity as requisitions change. Help make consistent decisions for non-standard roles. **Headcount Planning & Budgeting:** Own or partner on annual headcount plans and in-year changes. Manage people budgeting including compensation budgets, merit/bonus/equity pool modeling, and actuals vs. plan reporting. Run scenario work as the company grows. Support M&A from a People/Total Rewards perspective including diligence, job mapping, and integration planning. **Key Projects:** Lead analytical and operational People projects adjacent to Total Rewards. Bring a builder's mindset to process design, program build-outs, and scaling. Stretch into other People areas as needs emerge. Partner across time zones with teammates, vendors, and leaders globally. **Requirements:** - 7+ years of Total Rewards, compensation, or closely related People analytics/operations experience, including ownership of compensation programs in a multi-country or globally distributed environment - Strong compensation craft: job architecture, market pricing, ranges, offer support, pay decisions, and cycle execution - Experience managing multiple compensation data sets and surveys (submissions, matching, aging, blending sources) - Hands-on experience implementing and/or operating a compensation platform (planning, job/range data, workflow) - Working knowledge of benefit structures across multiple countries (eligibility, plan design differences) - Proven partnership with Recruiting on ranges, leveling, offer data, and job ID accuracy - Ability to own headcount planning, people budgeting, and M&A-style analysis - High analytical fluency with spreadsheets and people data; ability to build models and turn analysis into clear recommendations - Experience working across global locations and time zones with strong written communication - Sound judgment and discretion with sensitive pay and employee data - Builder energy: standing up new processes, improving messy workflows, and operating them well - Ability to overlap with West Coast working hours regularly (Pacific, Mountain, or Central time zone bases preferred) **Nice-to-Haves:** - Direct prior M&A experience from a People/Total Rewards lens - Hands-on requisition (req ID) management in partnership with Recruiting - Experience in high-growth, remote, or multi-entity environments with rapidly changing org structures - Exposure to equity compensation administration or equity cycle support - Experience with broader People analytics, workforce planning, or HR systems work - Relevant certification (CCP or equivalent)
