Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Production Maintenance Manager to lead and develop the maintenance team at its Costa Mesa manufacturing facility. The role is critical to scaling production, maximizing equipment uptime, and driving continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation.
You will lead, manage, and develop a team of maintenance specialists (electrical, mechanical, PLC, etc.), responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring, and supervising team members. You'll conduct performance reviews, manage work schedules and priorities, and foster a strong safety culture within the maintenance department, ensuring adherence to LOTO, confined space, and hot work procedures.
On the operations side, you will develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. You'll oversee reactive maintenance activities, troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, and utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work order generation, tracking, and historical data analysis. Spare parts inventory management is also a key responsibility, balancing availability of critical spares with cost optimization.
Strategic planning and continuous improvement are central to the role. You will analyze maintenance data (downtime, MTBF, MTTR, OEE) to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions. You'll drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, participate in capital project planning for new equipment installations and facility upgrades, and stay current with new maintenance technologies and best practices.
Collaboration is essential: you'll work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Safety departments to align maintenance activities with production schedules and plant objectives. You'll manage relationships with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance tasks.
Budget and resource management responsibilities include developing and managing the annual maintenance budget (labor, parts, external services, capital improvements), monitoring and controlling maintenance costs, and ensuring proper allocation of resources. You'll also ensure compliance with company policies and regulations (OSHA, EPA), participate in safety audits and incident investigations, and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and safety compliance.

- 7+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing maintenance role
- 3–5 years of experience in a maintenance leadership or supervisory position, preferably in a fast-paced production environment
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven experience implementing and managing PM/PdM programs
- Strong track record of improving equipment reliability and reducing downtime
- Proficiency with CMMS software
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs
- Knowledge of instrumentation and calibration techniques
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions common in a manufacturing plant (noise, varying temperatures, dust)
- Ability to work extended hours, including occasional nights, weekends, or holidays
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (up to 480V), PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), VFDs, and motor controls
- Expertise in mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and power transmission
