Flexport is seeking a Manager, Freight Audit Services to build and launch a new client-facing service that helps companies audit freight charges, resolve billing discrepancies, and optimize transportation costs. This is a ground-up build role combining operations, client management, and team leadership. You will establish operating procedures, quality standards, and escalation paths for the service. Key responsibilities include leading client onboarding (gathering contracts, invoices, shipment data, and authorizations), running daily audit delivery by checking invoices against contracted rates and investigating discrepancies, managing carrier disputes and billing corrections, and serving as the operational point of contact for clients with clear reporting and escalation resolution. As the service scales, you will hire, train, and develop the team to match staffing with client needs and quality standards. You'll collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to define requirements, test AI-assisted workflows for invoice data extraction and charge comparison, and verify accuracy before broader rollout. You'll also support Sales and Account Management with discovery, service scoping, implementation planning, and pricing input. Operational excellence is central: you'll track onboarding time, audit turnaround, accuracy, dispute outcomes, client value, productivity, and profitability to drive continuous improvement. Success in year one means reliable, repeatable processes; clients who understand service value and financial outcomes; a well-trained, growing team; and measurable gains from AI and automation. Flexport moves over $19B in merchandise annually across 112 countries, serving companies from emerging brands to Fortune 500s. The company is backed by leading investors and plays a central role in global supply chain solutions. REQUIREMENTS: - Record of strong results in operations, logistics, financial operations, client delivery, consulting, or related field - Ability to make progress on unfamiliar problems, exercise judgment with incomplete information, and deliver results - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; proficiency reconciling data in Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools - Clear client communication skills and judgment to handle sensitive issues, explain findings, and set realistic expectations - Leadership experience managing people, developing colleagues, or leading cross-team projects - Ability to quickly learn freight contracts, billing practices, and audit procedures - Hands-on experience using generative AI to analyze information or improve recurring workflows; ability to explain what was built, how it was tested, and what improved - Sound judgment about AI: verifying results against source data, recognizing unreliable outputs, protecting confidential information, knowing when human review is needed - Experience in freight auditing, ocean logistics, service launches, or client implementations is helpful but not required; strong candidates from adjacent fields with demonstrated learning ability and ownership are welcome
