Farfetch is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineering Manager to lead a team building an advanced personalization platform for luxury fashion e-commerce. You will oversee a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers, focusing on implementing and optimizing machine learning models for search, recommendations, and hyper-personalization. The platform serves millions of requests daily, powered by Python microservices and processes billions of data points.
In this role, you will:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment
- Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for machine learning projects focused on search and recommendations, ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for the design, implementation, and optimization of machine learning models and systems
- Oversee end-to-end machine learning solutions, including architecture implementation, data pipeline construction, model serving solutions, and productionization
- Work closely with senior leadership, product managers, and stakeholders to define requirements, set priorities, and ensure successful delivery
- Ensure quality and reliability through rigorous testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement practices
- Foster technological innovation, encouraging adoption of state-of-the-art techniques and tools
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional development of team members
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and stay updated with latest advancements in machine learning
Requirements:
- BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related disciplines
- Strong expertise in machine learning, data science, and software engineering
- Hands-on experience with Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and other relevant libraries and frameworks
- Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams with a track record of delivering successful machine learning projects
- Ability to develop and communicate a clear vision aligned with company goals
- Strong project management skills: prioritization, resource management, on-time and on-budget delivery
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Passion for modern software engineering best practices and continuous improvement
