Salary: USD 124,125 - 165,500 / annual
Hex is a collaborative analytics and data science workspace that empowers users to explore data using natural language, with or without code. The company has raised over $100M from leading investors including Sequoia and a16z, and serves thousands of customers including Ramp, Figma, Stubhub, and Anthropic.
You will own and scale Hex's legal operations function end-to-end as the company grows. This is a builder role that sits at the intersection of legal infrastructure, AI, and automation.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive CLM (Contract Lifecycle Management) adoption and enablement so the revenue team self-serves on standard deals
- Own workflow optimization, templates, and playbooks as deal structures and products evolve
- Perform first-pass review and redlining of standard agreements; draft from templates as volume requires
- Build and own structured intake processes for legal workstreams across the company
- Design and implement AI-powered workflows, agents, and automations to replace manual processes
- Maintain the legal governance record: privacy registers, AI inventory, compliance calendars
- Train cross-functional teams on self-service tools and escalation paths
- Manage outside counsel relationships and the legal tech stack
Hex's legal function has grown from zero to a fully operating system in under a year. You'll work in an environment where AI tooling is used across legal operations as the default way things get done, not as a side project. If you see a manual workflow and instinctively want to build it away, you'll fit well here.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-5+ years in legal operations, paralegal, or contract management, with at least 1-2 years in-house at a tech or SaaS company
- Demonstrated experience implementing or rebuilding a CLM (Ironclad preferred), designing intake workflows, and establishing reporting
- Experience reviewing and redlining commercial agreements on both sell-side and buy-side
- Comfortable building with AI and automation as a natural part of your work; experience with AI-assisted legal tools, LLMs, and automation platforms
- Ability to operate with autonomy in a role with significant white space
- Good judgment about what you can handle versus what needs a lawyer
- Care about whether people actually use what you build
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience at a company navigating exponential growth
- Experience with corporate governance (entity management, board materials, annual filings)
- Familiarity with Hex
- Strong opinions about organizing Notion workspaces
