As Legal Counsel for Fintech - New Payments, you will provide strategic legal guidance across the payments, e-money, and consumer credit product lines. You'll work cross-functionally to support product development, manage regulatory and legal risks, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. Key responsibilities include: - Collaborating with product and engineering teams to design and launch new products (e.g., BNPL), integrating technical considerations into legal analysis - Identifying and assessing legal and regulatory risks, proposing mitigation strategies aligned with organizational risk appetite - Advising on financial regulatory compliance including PSD2, AML/KYC, e-money regulations, and CCD2 - Acting as a strategic advisor to leadership and fostering legal awareness across the organization The role is hybrid (3 days per week in-office: Tuesday, Thursday, plus one day of your choice), with flexibility to request additional remote time. REQUIREMENTS: - Qualified lawyer with minimum 5 years post-qualification experience (PQE); ideally 8–10 years total professional legal experience - Deep knowledge of financial and consumer credit regulations (PSD2, AML/KYC, EMRs, CCD2) - Demonstrable track record in Fintech and Payments, ideally with experience in both private practice and in-house settings - Strong analytical mindset; ability to dive deep into complex legal issues and make sound risk-based decisions - Clear understanding of basic technology and engineering processes in Fintech, Payments, and consumer lending; prior experience working with technical teams is a significant plus - Ability to balance legal risks with commercial considerations - Essential: English fluency (written and spoken) - Desirable: Italian or French language knowledge
