Solve Intelligence is building an AI-powered platform for the global intellectual property industry, serving 600+ IP teams across the US, Europe, and Asia with 20-30% month-over-month revenue growth. The company recently announced a $40M Series B (total funding $55M from Y Combinator, 20VC, Visionaries, and others) and is expanding its US legal operations.
As Legal Counsel, you will be a key member of the growing legal team, reporting to the General Counsel and partnering directly with the CEO and CTO. You will own multiple critical areas:
**Commercial Contracts**: Draft, review, and negotiate high-stakes B2B SaaS agreements with major law firms (e.g., DLA Piper) and enterprise tech clients.
**AI & Product Guidance**: Provide business-oriented legal counsel to AI researchers and engineers to help shape the product roadmap safely and innovatively, addressing novel legal issues arising from generative AI.
**Global Compliance**: Navigate privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA), security reviews, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
**Scalable Infrastructure**: Help build policies and processes that enable the company to scale from current size to thousands of employees while maintaining legal rigor.
**Problem Solving**: Develop creative solutions for emerging legal challenges at the intersection of AI, intellectual property, and technology.
The founding team includes a General Counsel with a chemical engineering background and Georgetown Law JD (ex-Quarles), a CRO with a PhD in AI, a CEO with a PhD in AI and published research background, and a CTO with a computer science degree and experience at Qualcomm and Coremont.
You will thrive in a "move fast" culture, working autonomously across time zones. The ideal candidate is a strategic partner who finds paths to "yes" while protecting the company, is fascinated by the intersection of technology, law, and IP, and takes extreme ownership of outcomes.
**Requirements:**
- J.D. from an accredited law school and qualified to practice in New York
- 5+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or high-growth in-house environment
- Proven track record negotiating complex B2B SaaS agreements
- Exceptional writing skills and ability to simplify complex legal concepts for non-lawyers
**Nice-to-Haves:**
- Experience with AI regulation and product counseling
- Background in IT security, data privacy, or corporate law
- Admitted to practice before the USPTO
