Nomos is building a full-stack power company to unlock flexibility in Europe's energy markets by connecting millions of homes to grid infrastructure. The company operates in a heavily regulated industry and is backed by Index Ventures.
You will build and lead Nomos's legal function from the ground up as the company develops new products, enters partnerships, and scales. This is a foundational role where you will own the entire legal strategy and execution.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead negotiations and own contracts with partners, grid operators, and service providers
- Own regulatory compliance and consumer protection, anticipating regulatory changes that affect products and business plans
- Manage legal work across financing rounds, employment, and technology matters, coordinating specialist external counsel where needed
- Build the legal function from scratch: decide which work to bring in-house versus outsource, standardize and automate processes, and establish the contracts and frameworks the company will rely on as it grows
- Work cross-functionally to understand how new products and business decisions affect legal obligations to households, partner agreements, and software requirements
You will have significant autonomy to shape the legal infrastructure and strategy of an early-stage, venture-backed company in a critical industry.
Requirements:
- State exam or equivalent legal qualification (e.g., bar admission or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience handling complex legal work in energy, another regulated industry, or a fast-growing company
- Ability to defend legal judgments and explain reasoning clearly
- Meticulous attention to detail: ability to spot how small changes in wording create different obligations and trace implications through the business
- Fluent in both German and English, with ability to negotiate and draft precise legal documents in either language
