Scopely, a leading mobile games company, is seeking a Lead UX Designer to join the Star Trek Fleet Command team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis. Star Trek Fleet Command is a top-grossing 4X Strategy MMO launched in 2018 that continues to evolve and engage millions of players globally. In this role, you will set design standards and strategic UX vision for the game, defining craft direction across complex 4X systems. You will own complete, aspirational UX for new features and player experiences, transforming complex product requirements into intuitive, engaging flows. Your responsibilities include building deep knowledge of the game to step into the player's shoes and ground design decisions in real player perspectives. You will find relevant references and competitive analysis, deconstructing them to uncover inspiration and common pitfalls. You will visualize ideas through a range of design deliverables including sketches, low to medium fidelity wireframes, user flows, and interactive UX prototypes. You will identify weak points in designs and gaps in thinking, applying critical thinking and a sharp design eye to strengthen solutions. Collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with product teams, game designers, and artists to refine ideas and stay aligned throughout development. You will proactively share work, keep stakeholders informed, and provide relevant information when needed. You will leverage feedback, data, and insights to refine designs intentionally, and support long-term product and UX consistency by drawing on developed knowledge of design principles and patterns. The role involves mentorship and leadership of team members, reviewing work to maintain high craft quality and managing performance effectively. You will bring a solutions-oriented mindset that goes beyond identifying problems, offering thoughtful and creative problem solving. Requirements: - Proven track record of leadership in Game UX with extensive experience designing for complex, deep systems in live-service F2P games (4X or strategy experience highly preferred) - Strong mentorship and leadership capabilities with experience guiding and developing team members - Solutions-oriented mindset with thoughtful, creative problem-solving abilities - Strong understanding of game development norms, pipelines, technical constraints, implementation realities, and cross-discipline workflows - Fit for a culture built on curiosity, improvement, creativity, and collaboration with genuine passion for playing and making games - Resume/CV must be written in English
