Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving using end-to-end learning from real-world experience. The company is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead and scale the technical programme management function within the Data organisation. In this role, you will coach and develop a small, high-impact TPM team while acting as a trusted delivery partner to Data and Engineering leadership. You'll manage complex dependencies across data, ML, and engineering teams, working with both internal teams and external data and annotation suppliers. Your responsibilities include aligning priorities, challenging trade-offs, holding teams accountable for outcomes, and using KPIs and dashboards to track delivery progress and identify bottlenecks. Key focus areas include building and scaling the TPM function through hiring, owning planning and prioritisation across the data roadmap, leading flagship programmes across data platforms, ingestion and standardisation pipelines, enrichment and curation, labelling and annotation, and dataset management. You'll establish scalable planning cadences, governance structures, and operational practices that maintain momentum without adding unnecessary process. You'll drive measurable improvements in data quality, throughput, cost, and time-to-insight, ensuring data is reliably and predictably available to power the company's models. You'll represent the Data organisation in company-level reviews, communicating progress, risks, and decisions clearly while connecting delivery to business impact. The role operates in a hybrid model with main hubs in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg, combining in-person collaboration with remote flexibility. Wayve emphasises that the company is still writing much of how it works, and this role suits people who want real ownership and are comfortable with ambiguity and fast-moving environments. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years of deep, hands-on experience delivering data programmes as a technical programme manager, spanning data platforms, pipelines, enrichment, curation, or labelling - Proven track record building or scaling a programme management function, leading people and processes, with ownership and bias for action - Demonstrated ability to build, coach, and grow high-performing teams; experience developing people and raising the bar on technical programme management - Strong technical depth across data platforms, pipelines, and large-scale distributed infrastructure (petabyte scale) - Understanding of data ingestion from raw data through multiple processing stages, including directed acyclic graphs (DAGs), their uses and challenges - Solid understanding of machine learning, GPUs, and training/inference for models with 500 million to 20 billion parameters - Proficiency with some or all of: Databricks, Flyte, Ray, Kubernetes, Azure, Docker, Python - Proficiency with AI agents such as Cursor, Claude, or Codex to accelerate execution - Ability to stay objective under pressure and adapt in ambiguous, fast-moving environments - Systems thinking: understanding how complex data platform components fit together and how changes affect other areas - Product-minded approach, focusing on impact and defining what good looks like - Ability to align and influence across data, ML, and engineering without formal authority - Ability to connect data investment to measurable outcomes (quality, throughput, cost) and communicate clearly using appropriate metrics - Open to feedback and commitment to continuous improvement - Ideally: experience with large-scale distributed data platforms used by hundreds of engineers and researchers - Ideally: experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or other large-scale data and ML programmes - Plus: engineering or computer science degree, or experience working as an engineer; fluency with modern delivery tools such as Jira
